Additional Study Information: The Neurocognition of Language Laboratory is seeking children from 6 12 years of age to participate in a brain study of visual-sensory processing. We will use a technique called electroencephalography (EEG) to measure the brains electrical activity by placing small electrodes that rest on the scalp. EEG is pain-free, safe, and non- invasive. We are looking for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who do not take psychiatric medications and neurotypical children without psychiatric diagnoses. The purpose of this study is to determine if some children with autism have a neurochemical imbalance between different types of brain transmitters. We are also interested in how this relates to sensory processing issues in autism.If you are interested in allowing your child to take part in our research study to learn more about how the brain processes sensory information and ASD, please contact us.
