Dr. Cara L. Grimes is a Urogynecologist and Assistant Professor of Clinical OB/GYN at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University. After college she pursued a love of teaching, and taught math and science at Castlemont High School in Oakland, California with Teach For America. Dr. Grimes earned her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College and finished her OB/GYN residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She completed an accredited three-year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology) at the University of California San Diego. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2010 and is Board Eligible for the Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery subspecialty boards.

Dr. Grimes is uniquely trained to provide specialty consultation and management of the full spectrum of Female Pelvic Floor Disorders including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, incomplete bladder emptying, accidental bowel leakage, difficult defecation, painful bladder syndrome, recurrent urinary tract infections, fistula and urethral diverticulum. Dr. Grimes’ approach is to perform a comprehensive office evaluation and offer you a wide range of treatment options tailored to your specific problem ranging from conservative to medical or surgical management. She performs many office-based procedures including cystoscopy, bulking injections, botox bladder injections, urodynamics, endoanal ultrasound, and anal manometry. She can offer you various minimally invasive surgical approaches tailored to your specific condition including sacral neuromodulation, vaginal, laparoscopic, cystoscopic, and robotic approaches.

In addition to providing a wide spectrum of treatment options tailored to each patient, Dr. Grimes is very involved in teaching medical students and residents, conducting clinical research, and collaborating with her peers on a national level with the American Urogynecologic Society and Society for Gynecologic Surgeons.
