Melissa Beauchemin, PhD, is an assistant professor at the School of Nursing and the director of the NCI-Community Oncology Research Program at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at Columbia University. She received a BS and MS from Columbia University School of Nursing and completed her PhD at Columbia Nursing in 2019. Beauchemin has cared for children and adolescents with cancer since 2006. As a postdoctoral research fellow in the Mailman School of Public Health, she obtained additional training in cancer outcomes and health disparities. Her program of research focuses on accurate identification of cancer-related symptoms and toxicities, including financial toxicity, and development of evidence-based, acceptable, and feasible interventions to mitigate these adverse effects of cancer treatment, particularly among vulnerable populations.
