After graduating from Stanford University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Brewster was trained in psychiatry at Columbia and served as chief resident in her final year. Following residency, she completed the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinical Fellowship at Columbia. Afterwards, she completed the National Institutes of Health T32 Late-Life Neuropsychiatry Research Fellowship at Columbia. Her research has focused on understanding the neuropsychiatric consequences of age-related hearing loss, including its links to late-life depression and cognitive decline. She has received awards including the American Associate of Geriatric Psychiatry Member-in-Training Research Award (2021), the Moynihan Clinical Research Fellowship (2019), the Dr. Sandy Glassman Award for Excellence in Research (2019), and the Dr. Barbara Liskin Award (2015). At present, she serves as Co-Director on the Columbia Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship.
