Dr. Arcasoy was recruited to Columbia University as the Medical Program Director of Lung Transplantation in 2001 from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a key member of the Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplantation Program in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Since his recruitment, he completely turned around the Lung Transplantation Program to rank amongst the top ten programs in the country with regards to volume and top 1 to 3 programs in terms of patient survival. In addition to his position as the Medical Program Director of the Lung Transplant Program, he is the Director of the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at Columbia University.

Dr. Arcasoy has gained national and international reputation with various leadership roles in many professional organizations and scientific societies, including chairing the Thoracic Organ Transplant Committee of the American Society of Transplantation and the Transplant Network Steering Committee of the American College of Chest Physicians. He also serves as a reviewer for many scientific journals. Dr. Arcasoy has been named in America's Top Doctors in the past eight consecutive years and Top Doctors: New York Metro Area between 2002 and 2006.
