Dr. Linus D. Sun is an physician-scientist who specializes in the Neurology and neuroscience of eye movements. He received his MD from Yale University School of Medicine, a PhD from MIT, and completed a residency in Neurology and fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at CUMC. Dr. Sun's specialty is in Neuro-Ophthalmology and his clinical focus is on the diagnosing of disorders of the oculomotor nervous system and to investigate their treatments. He participates in clinical trials that require neuro-ophthalmological evaluation. Example eye movement disorders include: abnormally slow or fast quick eye movements (saccades), that over or undershoot targets (dysmetria), unsteady smooth pursuit, unstable fixation (nystagmus and saccadic intrusions), and double vision (convergence or divergence insufficiency). Clinical conditions for which eye movement disorders are present include: concussion, ocular myasthenia gravis, progressive supra-nuclear palsy (PSP), Parkinson's disease, posterior cortical atrophy, other dementias, chronic progressive external ophthalmoplegias, multiple sclerosis, vestibular neuronitis, cerebellar disorders, and stroke to name a few.
