Additional Study Information: This study uses smartphone technology to better understand changes in adolescent moods over time. As a participant in our study, we would: (a) interview your child about current and past thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and (b) collect data from your child's smartphone for 6 months through an app called the Effortless Assessment of Risk States (EARS; which would be installed during the initial study visit after you learned more about the study and provided permission). The initial visit would be in our lab at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University Medical Center, and during this session, we would determine eligibility. There also would be follow-up assessments that would be completed by telephone 1-, 3-, and 6-months after the initial visit. For participating in the study, your child may receive up to $625. To be eligible for this study, adolescents must currently be experiencing problems with anxiety, depression, or substance use.
