The overall goal of this research study is to find out if a new behavioral intervention can help people to improve their sleep quality. Our hope is to develop an effective and feasible behavioral approach that can benefit sleep in people from the general population. We are currently looking for 18-65 years old men and women, with no diagnosis of sleep disorder or chronic condition, who feel comfortable speaking and reading in English, and have access to computer or other electronic device with an Internet connection to participate in this study. You will be asked to attend 7 individual sessions over a period of 8 weeks. Each session will last between 30 and 60 minutes, and will be carried out either in person, at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, or online. In addition, you must respond to a series of survey questions and keep track of your sleep. Overall, you must be willing to come to Columbia University Irving Medical Center 4 times over a period of 12 weeks to attend in-person sessions and undergo testing and data collection. If you participate in the study during the period of social distancing due to the novel coronavirus, all elements of the study will take place remotely and you will not asked to come in person to the study site. You will receive compensation up to $100 at study completion, and free counseling and sleep screening.
