Additional Study Information: Our group has a long-standing interest in measuring eating behavior. Recently, new approaches have been developed that permit the direct measurement of eating behavior among people as they go about their normal lives. The purpose of this study is to obtain information from a small number of adults in preparation for a grant application to be submitted to NIH. The study is conducted remotely (no in-person visits are needed) over about 2 weeks and has two parts. In the first part, participants will be interviewed by phone or via Zoom to determine whether they are eligible. Then, eligible participants who are interested will be sent a pair of glasses with clear lenses to which a small camera is attached. The camera is triggered by chewing to take pictures of what is in front of the person. Participants are asked to wear the glasses while awake for one week and then return them to us. In addition, participants are asked to download an app to their smartphone to report information about their eating. Participants are compensated for their participation and can earn as much as $500. To be eligible, participants must be adults, 16-65 years old, overweight, and occasionally overeat.
