In PRECIDENTD, we hope to learn which diabetes medications work best to reduce the risk of heart and kidney disease in people with type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes are twice as likely to have heart disease or a stroke compared to someone who does not have diabetes, and they are likely to have heart disease or stroke at a younger age. People with type 2 diabetes and heart disease, stroke, or other vascular (blood vessel) disease or who have high risk for these can participate in the study. If you enroll in PRECIDENTD, you will be: prescribed a diabetes medication that reduces the risk of heart disease in addition to lowering blood glucose and weight, attend annual visits in-person or via telemedicine and complete questionnaires every 6 months for up to 8 years, share your health information to help answer one of the most pressing questions in how to take care of people with type 2 diabetes, receive $500 per year.
