In PRECIDENTD, we hope to learn which diabetes medications work best to reduce the risk of heart and kidney disease in people with type 2 diabetes. People with type 2 diabetes are twice as likely to have heart disease or a stroke compared to someone who does not have diabetes, and they are likely to have heart disease or stroke at a younger age. People with type 2 diabetes and heart disease, stroke, or other vascular (blood vessel) disease or who have high risk for these can participate in the study. If you enroll in PRECIDENTD, you will: Be prescribed a diabetes medication that reduces the risk of heart disease in addition to lowering blood glucose and weight. Attend annual visits in-person or via telemedicine and complete questionnaires every 6 months for up to 8 years. Share your health information to help answer one of the most pressing questions in how to take care of people with type 2 diabetes. Receive $500 per year.
