The purpose of this research is to study whether Discogen's non-invasive, low-intensity pulsed ultrasound treatment can help reduce pain for people with leg pain and low back pain. Eligible participants will be randomized into either a Discogen treatment group or a sham control group. All participants will be asked to come to the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) for three treatments in the course of a week to receive either the Discogen treatment or a sham control intervention (no treatment). Participants will be asked to complete follow-up questionnaires (either in-person or remotely) at days 7, 14, 30, and 60 after the treatment. Participants will receive $50 for each in-person visit and $25 for each follow-up phone call using the CUIMC PayCard System.
