We are looking for adults (ages 40-64) who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or any other non-heterosexual identity to participate in a 12-week program focused on reducing risk of heart disease. If successful, this will be the first intervention designed to reduce heart disease risk in non-heterosexual adults. The program will involve several parts including: 1) completing two in-person visits at the Columbia University School of Nursing, 2) participating in weekly meetings with a nurse coach, 3) providing two blood samples to measure different proteins in the blood associated with heart disease, 4) wearing a special wristwatch to measure physical activity and sleep, and 5) taking your blood pressure once a week at home. You may be eligible for this study if you are non-heterosexual, are between the ages of 40-64, can attend several in-person visits, and have no history of heart disease including no prior history of heart attacks, coronary artery disease, or stroke. Participants will be compensated up to $200 for completing all components of the study.
