Are you between 60 and 85 and having trouble sleeping, along with some changes in your memory? Researchers at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University are studying whether improving sleep can help memory, thinking, and everyday functioning in older adults with mild memory problems (called amnestic mild cognitive impairment).Eligible participants will be randomly assigned (like flipping a coin) to one of two 8-week sleep programs:- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I): eight weekly video sessions with a trained therapist that teach practical ways to improve sleep.- Sound-based deep sleep enhancement: wearing special earbuds at night that play quiet sounds timed to boost deep sleep.Participants will complete memory and thinking tests, questionnaires, sleep diaries, and a blood draw at three in-person visits: at the start, at 12 weeks, and at 6 months. Participation lasts about 6 months. Participants need stable internet access and a family member or friend who can answer questions about their daily functioning. Participants can receive up to $370 for their time, including travel reimbursement.
