Additional Study Information: If you are depressed and have not received course of medication treatment for depression in the past, you may be eligible for a study involving brain imaging and research treatment at no cost to you. The research treatment is with a medication that is not FDA-approved for depression. The study uses two types of brain imaging, position emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to learn about depression and its treatment. If you are eligible and participate in the study you will be paid up to $747 for your time and effort. After you complete participation in the study, you will be offered 6 months of treatment at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute at no cost to you.
