Pancreatic cancer is a deadly disease and the best hope for improving the chances of survival is to find it early. Some patients, called high-risk, have an inherited predisposition to pancreatic cancer. Certain medical centers have started programs where high-risk patients undergo testing, such as receiving imaging scans, to look for early signs of pancreatic cancer. However, these tests are not able to pick up all early signs of cancer. Therefore, in this study, we are collecting samples of the patient's blood, pancreatic juice, and samples of any biopsy or surgery to search for other early signs of cancer, which we call markers. Patients will undergo standard medical care, such as receiving medical evaluation by a specialist, endoscopy, and imaging scans, as well as be subject to the collection of extra information via questionnaires and collection of extra blood and pancreatic juice specimens. By collecting this information and samples, we hope to identify markers for pancreatic cancer, which will help patients at risk of developing this disease.
