Additional Study Information: The Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University is doing a research study to learn how to best improve sleep health in couples for supporting heart health. We are looking for couples aged 30-65 years with no history of cancer or heart disease. To see if individuals qualify for the study, couples who are interested in participating will have to go through three screening phases. The first one will be a screening questionnaire that can be completed online or through a phone call. The second screening phase will be an in-person visit where couples will have their blood pressure measured and will complete questionnaires. Eligible participants will wear a wrist monitor to track their sleep habits for a week and complete a 7-day sleep diary. $50 will be given for completing these screening activities. Couples who qualify for the study will be invited to participate in the intervention. Participating in this research study involves 2 study visits over 2 months, 2 return visits, weekly phone check ins, and a follow up questionnaire at 16 weeks completed over the phone. In the first visit, couples will receive the sleep health intervention which involves goal setting, sleep health coaching, adhering to a fixed sleep schedule for the duration of the study, watching virtual sleep health education sessions, and receiving feedback from the study team. On the second visit, couples will complete questionnaires and blood pressure assessments, wear a wrist monitor to track their sleep habits for a week, and complete a 7-day sleep diary. Participation in the study involves wearing a Fitbit wristband for the entire study time, wearing a blood pressure monitor two times for 24 hours each time, and wearing a wrist monitor to track their sleep habits two times for a week each time, and completing a 7-day sleep diary two times. Couples will receive up to $300 ($150 per individual) for research activities (including screening).
