Dr. Eldad Hod is a pathologist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Hod's current research program uses in vitro systems, mouse models, and human studies to investigate important problems relating to red blood cell transfusion and iron biology, particularly related to refrigerated storage, iron deficiency, hemolytic transfusion reactions, red blood cell senescence, and phagocytosis.
